A 3-Minute Reminder that the World is still Basically Good.

By Nicole Cameron

It can be tough to see the world as a happy place where good things happen.

Especially if you’re prone to watching the news, or turning on your computer, or leaving the house and talking to people.

It seems like there is so much frustration and sadness and hate and violence and ignorance and unfair treatment.

And while a lot of that is true, some of it is our perception—how we look at the world around us.

Music is usually where I go when life starts to feel a little too Twilight Zone-y. I first heard this song on a random Spotify playlist and immediately fell in love.

It’s simple. It’s super pop (which I adore). And it’s sung by a 14-year-old—someone who is old enough to know something about angst but young enough to believe that there is still hope.

If you’re struggling to make it through the day, or even just through the hour, take Grace VanderWaal’s advice:

“Tap your foot and listen in
Ignore the world, let the music cave in
Close your phone and breathe in the air
You’ll soon realize that there’s something that is
So much more than this”
